This course has been designed for those wishing to multi-skill and work on a wide variety of events rather than specializing in one area. The Diploma course combines the units from both the Wedding Planning and Special Event Planning Certificates. Currently the course is offered by Distance Learning and E Learning and upon enrolment you will receive access to our Virtual Campus allowing you to chat to your tutors online, jump on the student forum, delve into the library of Podcasts and videos and check out the Job Board.

Diploma of Event Planning and Design - $1250.00

This course is aimed at those who are wishing to break into the event planning industry with a focus on event design. The course is designed to enable you to study at your own pace in an interactive environment; making it perfect for anyone in full or part time employment or for anyone who has other commitments which make it necessary to study in their spare time.

Diploma of Wedding Planning, Styling & Design - $1250.00

This course has been designed for those wishing to multi-skill and work on a wide variety of events from both the planning aspect and design. Currently the course is by a combination of Distance Learning and E Learning (with the Event Design subjects being delivered online).

Event Planning for Virtual Assistants - $395.00

The role of a Virtual Assistant is wide and varied. These roles often include event planning and coordination as part of their role, from small events with limited budgets to national conferences with VIP speakers. Our Certificate Course - Event Planning for VA's, has been written specifically for these job roles. The course is designed to be studied over a 15 week period from the comfort of your desk within our Virtual Campus.

Wedding Planning for Officiants - $395.00

This course has been designed specifically for Wedding Officiants who wish to add to their portfolio of services. The course is designed to enable you to study at your own pace in an interactive environment; making it perfect for working officiants as they can fit the course in with their existing wedding commitments.

The Academy is nationally and internationally recognized as a professional Wedding and Event training organization. All students who successfully complete a Certificate or Diploma course with the Academy will become ‘Certified’ by the Academy in their area of study.  As a ‘Certified’ member of the Academy you will be given a Certificate or Diploma and a certification logo that you can use to demonstrate your own professionalism to prospective employers and clients.

The tutorial team at the Academy is led by its founder, Kylie Carlson, who has spent over 20 years working within the industry as a planner, stylist and designer.

Although her company was predominantly based in the UK she worked extensively in both New York and Chicago in the early 90s. Her company won several contracts with some top hotels as suppliers of all their styling and décor. The company went from strength to strength. After three years in business, they launched a wedding planning division of the company, which was swiftly followed up with a children’s party division that completed the portfolio.

Her experience globally included a stint as the Event Operations Manager at the 5 Star Resort, Hayman Island in tropical Queensland. It was after this that Kylie decided to take some time out to write her first course, the Certificate of Wedding Planning.a The Academy was launched in 2003 and soon after a partnership with a local college evolved. This allowed the certificate to be formally recognized within higher education as the leading course for those wishing to pursue a career as a wedding planner.

The Academy was then approached to produce two new higher level courses, one that combined wedding and corporate event planning and one that focussed on the styling and design side of events. This was when the Diploma of Wedding and Event Planning and the Diploma of Wedding Planning, Styling and Design were born.  Working with some fabulous collaborators from within the industry Kylie involved experts in floristry, lighting, entertainment, décor design, catering and staging to help bring the courses alive and inject an international flavor. More courses swiftly followed and the Academy now offers 9 courses in total.

The Academy’s team of tutors are based around the world and all work virtually allowing our students to benefit from a wider knowledge base. All tutors have worked within their own businesses in the special events industry for a minimum of 5 years, and as a condition of employment must successfully complete any of the courses they tutor with a distinction. Kylie personally mentors our tutors for a minimum 3 month period to ensure a high quality of tuition and feedback on assignments is maintained.

We have two specialist tutors, Sasha Livingstone who leads the team of Wedding and Event Planning tutors and Miranda Williams who leads the team of Styling and Design tutors. Both have extensive experience in their fields and have worked with Kylie for many years.

Sasha’s passion is planning and she enjoys the mental challenges that present themselves when coordinating large-scale events. Her forte is event budgeting and her expertize are renowned in the industry for being able to produce spectacular events on some very small budgets.

Miranda has an eye for color and her passion is creating event inspiration boards for her clients. She has a portfolio full of ideas to share with her students to help them in their studies. Her forte is theme creation and her ability to pull together all the elements of an event with style and panache is enviable.

Between them Sasha and Miranda work with a team of 10 tutors but are always on the look out for more talent.
